Standard Wheelchair
Covered if the patient meets the following criteria:
- Has a mobility limitation that significantly impairs his/her ability to participate in daily living activities such as: toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming and bathing in customary locations in the home.
- Use of a Cane and Walker have been ruled out.
- Patient must have sufficient upper extremity function needed to safely propel the manual chair or will have available caregiver to provide assistance with the chair.
Common Diagnosis: COPD, CHF, Arthritis, Fractures of Lower Extremities
To qualify for a standard wheelchair, above criteria must be met and patient must be able to self-propel in a manual chair.
Types
Transport
Above criteria must be met and patient is not able to self-propel in a manual chair but has a caregiver to provide assistance.
Heavy-Duty
Above criteria must be met and patient must weigh over 250 pounds.
Others Available
We also offer an Elevated Leg Rest model. In this case, patient has a musculoskeletal condition or the presence of a cast or brace that prevents a 90-degree flexion; or patient has significant edema of the lower extremities that requires elevation.
